 Meet the Team

Kate Prichard – Founder & Director

Kate Prichard, the founder of Bee Tutored, received a BA in International Affairs and Spanish from The George Washington University in Washington DC and a Masters in Education from Pace University. She participated in the New York City Teaching  Fellows program where she taught Spanish in the NYC public school system for five years. Kate trained at the School for International Studies in Brooklyn and then continued on to teach at the High School for Humanities and LAB Middle and High School in Manhattan. She is actively involved in managing and growing Bee Tutored by working closely with schools, parents associations, and of course with students and parents. Bee Tutored is founded and headquartered in New York City, but has grown to serve families in both Texas and Spain.

Laura Hancock – VP & Director of Client Services

Laura joined the Bee Tutored team in 2014. Laura wears multiple hats and is behind the scenes of all of Bee Tutored’s day to day operations. She is our best kept secret! Her primary roles involve thoughtfully connecting students to the best matched tutor, tracking student progress, communicating with families, and organizing Bee Tutored’s small group classes at various schools across the city.

Laura graduated from the University of Georgia in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Science, majoring in Human Development and Family Science.

Annie Humphreys – Academic Coordinator

With a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Charter Oak State College, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Nottingham in England, and currently working toward a MA in Education, Annie first began her teaching career in 2012, tutoring athletes for the University of Missouri, and then joined Bee Tutored as a tutor in 2016. The passion for teaching has since expanded to encompass administrative facets in the field of education as well. Currently, Annie works closely with tutors and students in the capacity of Academic Coordinator and enjoys being a part of building individualized connections and facilitating tailored academic pathways for each student to meet their personalized goals.

Sara Nolan – College Essay Advisor

Sara Nolan, personal essay writing coach, professional educator and writer for almost two decades, helps her students use their college admissions essays as the perfect vehicle to highlight their intelligence, insights, creativity, and relevance. She teaches writing, critical reading and grammar to students 6th grade and up.

Sara also partners with established New York City non-profits (among them, The TEAK Fellowship and JPMC The Fellowship Initiative) to promote higher-ed access for all students through their production of bright, strong writing. Her students gain not just an academic advantage, but enduring skills from which to live their chosen lives to the fullest.

As college-essay writing coach at JPMorgan Chase The Fellowship Initiative, and as editing consultant at Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), Sara helped cultivate student expressive talent to achieve and fund their educational dreams. Her students were recognized with admissions to their top choice schools and awarded over 8.4 million dollars in scholarships to attend.

She earned her BA in Classics and Comparative Literature from Brown University in 2001, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa (She’s a Classics nerd, so she knows what those accolades mean!), and her MFA in Writing & Poetics from Naropa University in 2009. She has taught, edited, and written extensively ever since.

Sara loves so many things, but especially the bottom of a skillet with butter and garlic, imagining the world through a baby’s eyes, walking faster than the bikers (a girl can dream!) in Prospect Park, Luminaries featured on the On Being & Call Your Girlfriend Podcast, and anything by James Baldwin.
